Fans Strike First Victory in New Jersey
06/20/2012
Thanks to you, fans in the Garden State won a significant victory on Monday as the New Jersey Assembly passed a major piece of fan-friendly legislation in the Assembly Regulated Professions Committee.
The bipartisan bill (titled A2258) prohibits ticket brokers from using anti-consumer automated ticket-purchasing software (“bots”) and protects the rights of fans to sell or share tickets. We applaud Assemblyman Vincent Prieto, who introduced the bill and was instrumental to its success in the Assembly, and thanks to all of you who took the time to write to your legislators. We couldn’t have done this without your support.
This is a great victory, but the fight isn’t done. The legislation next moves to the Assembly for a full vote, and companion legislation in the Senate must still pass committee before a final bill can go to the Governor’s desk for signature. We’ll keep you updated on when and how you can take action. Until then, thanks again for standing up to protect New Jersey fans.
Let’s keep the pressure on!
