Last night, the Borough of East Rutherford passed a resolution that opposes Ticketmaster’s restrictive paperless ticketing scheme. East Rutherford, New Jersey is the home of the New York Giants and Jets football franchises, as well as the IZOD Center, home court of the New Jersey Nets.
Sponsored by Councilman Joel Brizzi, a Giants season ticket holder, the resolution states: “Our community will be better served when fans own the tickets they purchase and are allowed to transfer, gift and resell their tickets.”
Brizzi stood up for fans by pointing out deceptive practices carried out by Ticketmaster and other large ticketing companies. As an elected official, he also described how harmful the impact of restrictive paperless ticketing can be to fan’s local businesses.
